These vocabulary lists are ordered alphabetically according to Pinyin pronunciation. They combine vocabulary found elsewhere on ChinaConnectU, including the vocabulary lists accompanying the Encyclopedia of China articles, videos, news feed, and other teaching materials. Click on any of the letters to see the complete vocabulary list.
We are creating thematic vocabulary lists based on everyday, practical, and more abstract themes. If you have an idea for a thematic list, or if you have one ready that you would like to share, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The HSK (hànyǔ shuǐpíng kǎoshì 汉语水平考试), or Chinese Proficiency Test in English, is a comprehensive exam for non-native speakers of Chinese, and is held several times a year all around the world. Preparing for the HSK test can be a challenging, but eventually rewarding, process. There are special classes you can attend, and many books that will help you prepare. These online resources are a good place to start if you, or your students, are planning to take the HSK:
- On this webpage you can practice (HSK) vocabulary in different ways; from English to Chinese, Chinese to English, in Pinyin, and in characters.
- Popup Chinese (in general a great website for language learners) has a page devoted to the HSK, including vocabulary lists, practice tests, and other useful information.
- The China Education Center offers practice tests for all (new) HSK levels.
- Visit the official HSK webpage for more information about the test, and test locations and dates.
