Tongdian ?? is an encyclopedia compiled in the Tang Dynasty (618–907 CE) by the prominent scholar-official Du You ?? (735–812 CE). A survey of the social, political and cultural institutions of Chinese history, the Tongdian served as a longstanding model for the compilation of Chinese encyclopedias.
